War 2 Day 1 Collections :Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s Big Opening?

War 2 Day 1 Collections: The much-anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, finally entered cinemas on August 14, riding the Independence Day holiday wave. It is within the YRF Spy Universe, with lots of action and cross-industry sales power enticing audiences from both the Hindi and South Indian markets.

Pre-Sales

There was huge pre-release hype for War 2 from the very beginning, suggesting a possibly very good box-office buzz, which came very close with the very early trade estimates stating that advance ticket sales in India had crossed ₹20 crores gross, with the figure rising to ₹30 crores with additional blocked seats. This instantly put the film in the top tier for pre-release business for the strongest Bollywood openings of the year 2025, putting it above several others in recent history with big-ticket productions.

War 2 Day 1 Collections

On Day 1, War 2 is estimated to have registered a net collection of ₹52-53 crores approximately across all languages in India. Clearly, the Hindi version was at the top, but Telugu and Tamil screenings also contributed a lot, thanks to Jr. NTR’s massive fan base down in the South. The film especially did well in metropolitan multiplex chains and a few premium single screens, where occupancy stayed at a high level throughout Day 1.

War 2, however, was competing very much with Rajinikanth’s Coolie which also released on the same day and is likely to net over ₹65 crores. According to trade pundits, nevertheless, War 2 has held up quite well in the non-Tamil markets.

War 2 can truly benefit from the long weekend ahead and its further drive from a positive word-of-mouth campaign on the action set-pieces. Sustaining collections beyond the holiday period without converting the initial buzz into respectful weekday footfall should be the real test.
