Coolie Day 1 Collections: Rajinikanth’s Record-Breaking Opening

Coolie Day 1 Collections: Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest action entertainer Coolie opened at the cinemas on August 14, 2025, and the megastar’s unmatched draw is reflected in the box office numbers. Being released on the eve of Independence Day gave the film an extended holiday weekend to boast one of the largest openings in the last few years.

Sales before the release

It was buzzing even before the release of Coolie. Pre-bookings across India indicate that the total gross had crossed ₹35 crores, with ticket sale frenzy in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Most high-end multiplexes and single screens reported sold-out shows for the day. Pre-sales indicated that it was way above other 2025 releases, setting the tone for a massive haul on the first day.

Coolie Day 1 Collections

According to early trade estimates, Coolie collected around ₹65 crore net across all Indian languages on its first day. Tamil Nadu topped the lot with phenomenal occupancy. Then came strong collections from Telugu-speaking states and Kerala. Complemented with strong turnout numbers in metro cities, despite Hindi being released on low screens.

The film’s strong performance came despite a high-profile box office clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2. Which also opened with impressive figures. Analysts attribute Coolie’s edge to Rajinikanth’s huge loyal horror fan base, aggressive regional promotions, and the potential for heavy repeat viewing.

What Lies Ahead

Independence Day is adding to the thrust in collections, and the film is likely to continue its magical run through the weekend. If the trend continues, the film might touch the ₹200 crore mark within just a few days in India. Further strengthening Rajinikanth as a box office powerhouse.
