Coolie vs War 2: The box office earnings for Rajinikanth’s most recent movie, Coolie, have not been much impacted by the film’s mediocre opening reviews. According to the industry reports, the highly anticipated movie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has made Rs 68 crore. The Tamil film also faced off against the Hindi picture War 2, but the Rajinikanth-starring film prevailed, earning only Rs 56 crore. This comparison of the Coolie and War 2 numbers makes it quite evident that the Rajinikanth film is the obvious winner in terms of the opening day matchup.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie Box Office Collection Day 1:

According to the sources, the Tamil movie Coolie had a huge debut on August 14, 2025, earning Rs 68 crore from India Net receipts alone. This number is certain to increase given the enormous global release of Rajinikanth’s film. The movie has now earned Rs 2.32 crore on day two, bringing its total earnings nearly to 70-71 crore. In terms of occupancy in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Ongole city has registered the highest with 22.63 lakhs, followed by Kurnool city at 20.7 lakhs.

Jr. NTR & Hrithik’s War 2 Box-office Collection Day 1:

The action-packed Rajinikanth movie competed with Hindi War 2, which starred Telugu star Jr. NTR and Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan. However, with only Rs 56 crore made, War 2 was not much of a rivalry. Despite a respectable first-day haul, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, was roughly Rs 12 crore less than Coolie.

Additionally, War 2 was widely available in many languages. The movie, which marked Jr. NTR’s Bollywood debut and starred him in a negative role, was also much-awaited in the Telugu states. War 2 has no buzz in Hindi, Rs 23 crore in Telugu. Which is not surprising given that it was competing with Thalaivar’s Coolie.
