Janhvi Kapoor Slams Trollers Over Actress Viral Video

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor recently clarified the uproar that followed her chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during a Dahi Handi event in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, held in connection with Janmashtami and the promotion of her movie Param Sundari. Janhvi Kapoor Slams Trollers Over Actress Viral Video.


The Viral Moment

Janhvi was receiving mockery from netizens after videos of her breaking the matki and chanting the slogan went viral on social media. Many were making jokes about her having mixed up the Janmashtami festival with a nationalistic event.

Setting the record straight, Janhvi took to Insta to defend herself from the trolling. She said that BJP MLA Ram Kadam chanted the slogan first. And Janhvi echoed it in the moment, not out of confusion but out of context. She stated it was unfair that selective edits had turned her gestures into meme material.

Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material’. With great emphasis she added that, it is not just on Janmashtami, but if she wants she can say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ every day.

The Fan Frenzy

The Dahi Handi celebrations were a riot of colour, fun, and festivities. Videos from the event showed Janhvi in traditional attire, breaking the handi pot, and enjoying the company of her fans. Greeting them even in Marathi. But while leaving, she was unceremoniously ploughed into by a hyper crowd. It seemed she was getting pushed around, visibly uncomfortable, but would still remain composed and smile until her security detail finally got her to her car.

Now what was supposed to be a fun couple of days during Janhvi’s promotional event for her feature film, Param Sundari, slated for release on August 29, 2025, had turned out to become fiercely contentious. Her statements evidenced how altogether differently one can look at stuff, depending on the context, especially in this fast-changing life called social media.
