Simple Steps to Protect Yourself from Dengue

Simple Steps to Protect Yourself from Dengue

The number of people infected with dengue fever is increasing day by day. Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. The main symptoms are fever, severe headache, and pain in the joints and muscles.

Dengue fever is a viral infection spread by female Aedes mosquitoes. Although the disease usually resolves within two to four weeks, in some cases dengue fever can cause serious health complications. Fresh, stagnant water found in buckets, flower pots, coolers, and water tanks is suitable for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes. Draining it will help prevent their breeding.

The increase in dengue fever is a growing concern. There are several major factors for this. Climate change plays a major role. This creates warm and humid conditions that are ideal for the breeding and survival of mosquitoes, says Dr. Vaibhav K Gupta, Associate Director, Internal Medicine, Medanta, Gurugram. S.

Keeping water from standing in flower pots, old tires, and pet bowls will protect you from mosquitoes. The elderly, children, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk. Dengue cases are most commonly reported during the rainy season. Therefore, the World Health Organization says that there are seasonal patterns of disease transmission.

How to boost immunity against dengue fever?

Stay well hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids like water, coconut water, and fruit juices. This is especially important if you have a fever to prevent dehydration.

Foods to boost immunity: Include foods rich in vitamin C such as citrus fruits, peppers, and leafy greens, and foods high in zinc such as nuts, beans, and nuts.

Protein intake: Chicken, eggs, and legumes contain adequate protein. Protein is essential for tissue building and repair.

Eat easily digestible foods: Foods like soups, porridge, and fruits are bland and easily digestible.
