How to Strengthen Immunity with Ayurvedic Practices During Monsoon

Strengthen Immunity with Ayurvedic Practices: The very first drops of a monsoon are blessed to the earth to relieve her and the people from the unbearable heat of the summer. During this time, however, the immunity of our body against various diseases is weighed down-more colds, fevers, digestion disturbances, etc. The heavy humidity in the air, the sudden change in temperature, and the exponential spread of infections contribute to this decline. However, Ayurveda, by virtue of its rich knowledge, offers simple and natural methods to uplift immunity during this season.

1. Eat Immune-Boosting Foods

According to Ayurveda, foods which are light in digestion are to be consumed during rainy seasons; therefore, eat those foods. Ginger, turmeric, garlic, tulsi, and black pepper are important ones in this respect. Seasonal fruits such as pomegranate and jamun are also helpful for boosting one’s digestion and immunity.

2. Drink Herbal Decoctions (Kadha)

Warm herbal teas made from tulsi, cinnamon, ginger, and clove help to flush out toxins and safeguard against seasonal flu. Sipping lightly warm water throughout the day assures hydration and helps immunity.

3. Daily Ayurvedic Procedures

Oil pulling with sesame or coconut oil keeps the mouth healthy and helps prevent infections.

Abhyanga (oil massage) with warm medicinal oils enhances circulation and fortifies the organism.

Nasya (nasal drops) with medicated oils such as Anu tailam is helpful in the alleviation of nasal obstruction.

4. Establish a Routine

Dinacharya (daily routine) is considered very important in Ayurveda. Going to bed on time, doing yoga or pranayama, and eating meals at proper timings help balance the doshas in the body, thus keeping immunity strong during the monsoon season.

5. Foods to Avoid in Order to Facilitate Immunity

Steer clear of junk:, oily, hard-to-digest foods. Digestion can be upset during this humid weather by fermented items and raw salads; therefore, stick to freshly prepared warm food instead.
