Failed ATM Transaction: ATM usage is part of our daily life. This electronic machine saves lots of time and makes the cash withdrawal easy. But have you ever faced a situation where the ATM does not give you money, still your money is still deducted from your bank account? This situation might sound very stressful, but there are a few steps to handle it with ease.
Failed ATM Transaction Solutions:
The first step is to stay calm. Do not panic; instead, check your messages and bank updates. Banks usually reverse the deducted amount automatically within a few working days. If the machine fails, take the slip immediately and note the exact time and location of the ATM. Also, try to note the transaction reference number from the screen or slip.
If your account balance shows that the amount is deducted, call the bank’s customer care helpline or visit the nearest branch to file a report. Keep a record of the complaint number along with the ATM details. Banks must address the issue and refund the amount within five to seven working days. If the bank does not return the money within this period, you can submit a complaint to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) through the Banking Ombudsman.

Try using ATMs within bank branches to avoid similar problems, as they are more maintained and watched over. Before exiting the ATM, always wait for the screen to indicate that the transaction is complete. Additionally, hold onto the transaction slip until you have verified the balance. In other words, don’t worry if funds are taken out but not disbursed. Your money will soon be secure and recovered if you act quickly and report it correctly.
