Director A.R. Murugadoss has said that Ajith was initially considered for the lead role in the A.R. Murugadoss-Suriya collaboration ‘Ghajini’, which created history in Indian cinema. Murugadoss said that Ajith had grown his hair long at that time to do the film Naan Kadavul and therefore could not shave his head.
Murugadoss spoke about Ghajini during the promotion of his latest film ‘Madrasi’ starring Sivakarthikeyan.
“Ghajini started with Ajith Kumar, but he had to do some other films at the same time. The film Naan Kadavul starring Arya was the first to be done by Ajith Kumar. Since he was growing his hair for that, it was not possible to shave his head for Ghajini. That is the main reason. But I still have the footage of him acting for two days as the character of Sanjay Ramaswamy, who has a normal look,” Murugadoss said.
Ghajini was released in 2005. The film, which received great audience and critical acclaim, was later remade in Hindi by Murugadoss himself with Aamir Khan in the lead. Meanwhile, Biju Menon also plays the central role in Madrasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan. This is the ninth Tamil film in Biju Menon’s career. Vidyut Jamal, Sanjay Dutt, Vikrant, and Rukmini Vasanth are the other main stars in the film. While Sudeep Elamon is the cinematographer, Anirudh Ravichander and PRO and Marketing Consultant Pratheesh Shekhar are the music composers.
Amaran was Sivakarthikeyan’s last film in the lead role. Amaran became a surprise hit film in 2024. Amaran earned around 334 crores globally. Sivakarthikeyan appeared in the film as Major Mukund Varadarajan. The film stars Sai Pallavi as Indu Rebecca Varghese, while other characters include Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, Sreekumar, Shyama Prasad, Shyam Mohan, Geethu Kailasam, Vikas Bangar and Mir Salman. It was directed by Rajkumar Periyaswamy. Amaran is a film that was released on October 31, 2024. Directed by Rajkumar Periyaswamy, Amaran was produced by Raj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India.
