Samosa Origins

The Samosa originated in parts of Central Asia, especially around Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The word Samosa comes from the Persian word ‘sanbosag’. Samosa’s evolved over time but became popular across the Indian subcontinent.

Why You Will Love These Paneer Chilli Samosas

These samosa’s aren’t just your regular potato filled samosa, they also have a great mixture of paneer and chilli goodness. The crunchy pastry combined with the amazing paneer filling will have you reaching for more than one. Perfect little snacks or a mass made for parties.

Filling Ingredients

To achieve a delicious, simple Paneer Chilli samosa filling, you must use fresh crumbled paneer. Combine all these ingredients together; chopped bell peppers, boiled crushed corn, salt, a bit of oregano and dried chilli flakes. Get it well mixed together to create a delicious stuffing.

Dough

In a bowl, mix wheat flour, with salt, oil, and water to make a soft dough. Allow to rest for about 15-20 minutes to help relax the gluten content, this will help make the dough easy to roll and use to shape the samosas.

Shaping

Roll out small circles of dough and cut them in half to form a semi circle. Take the half circle and fill with the Paneer mixture and fold to shape a samosa. Seal the dough on the edges with water, or a paste made from flour and water.

Preparation Methods: Frying, Air Fryer, or Oven

For the classic taste you can either deep fry the samosas in hot oil or air fry them at 180-200 degrees Celsius for 8-10 minutes as a healthier alternative by using a brush of oil. You can also bake in an oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes until crisp.

Serving Options

Once the samosas are ready, you can serve them well hot with coriander chutney, tamarind chutney, ketchup or schezwan sauce. Each of these dips enhances the flavor and pairs nicely with the spicy paneer filling.

Tips for Good Samosas

Fresh paneer will help keep the filling firm. Don’t overfill the samosas, or else they will burst. Make sure to seal the edges properly so that the filling stays in balance during cooking. Spice level/taste is up to you, so feel free to adjust the taste and spice levels to your liking.

Conclusion

Paneer chilli samosas are a great change to your normal samosa. It is easy to make, and you can prepare it at home with these easy steps and how you cook them.
