Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Maruti Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, for export to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. He also inaugurated localized manufacturing of hybrid battery electrodes at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Hansalpur.
At the event, Prime Minister Modi declared a “new chapter” in India’s Make in India journey. He said, “Indian-made electric vehicles will now be exported to 100 nations. Along with this, the production of hybrid battery electrodes begins today.”
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Price and Details
The e-Vitara measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height, and has a 2,700 mm wheelbase. Suzuki positions it as a global electric SUV. Engineers have integrated the motor, inverter, and transmission into a single electric system. Customers will get two battery options. The larger 61 kWh pack powers a front motor that produces 174 hp and 189 Nm. The smaller 49 kWh pack comes with a front-mounted motor that delivers 144 hp and 189 Nm.
Suzuki plans to offer the larger battery with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. This setup adds a 65 hp rear motor for stronger performance. The AWD version produces a combined 184 hp and 300 Nm. The larger battery also promises a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge.

Maruti Suzuki will build a strong network of charging stations and service providers for the e-Vitara. The company will give owners smart home chargers with installation support. Within two to three years, it will install public fast-charging stations at 5- to 10-kilometer intervals across the top 100 cities. To strengthen after-sales service, the company will set up 1,500 EV-ready workshops in more than 1,000 locations.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Price:
The expected price for the e-Vitara is going to be between ₹20 and ₹30 lakh. The company plans to launch the vehicle in September 2025.
