In a recent interview, they revealed the story behind getting to direct The Russo Brothers’ next global project Citadel. The directors revealed that they checked Raj & DK’s previous work before allowing them to work on the Indian version of Citadel.
Raj & DK revealed that The Russo Brothers have watched an unreleased edit of Family Man season one starring Manoj Bajpayee and Priymani in lead roles. They have also watched the biggest hit of their directorial Stree Starring Shradhha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao. This had made a significant difference in choosing the directors for the Indian version of the series Citadel.
“I think they had watched The Family Man season one edit. It hadn’t been released yet, and they had watched Stree,” He added “But they had sampled our work. That’s what I realized later. Prime Video had shared with them the edits of the show (The Family Man).”
A major highlight of this collaboration is that the Russo brothers have given full freedom to the director duo Raj & DK. To retain its original voice and style citadel universe has s special touch. The Duo went on to say “It was good that the Russo brothers told us to retain our voice and style. But we had to fit into their universe, which was the balancing act,” Raj & DK said.
