Shruti Haasan recently made a fascinating revelation about her father, legendary actor Kamal Haasan, during a candid conversation promoting her latest film Coolie. The actress revealed that Kamal Haasan once fell in love with Bengali actress Aparna Sen. And, to impress her he even learned the Bengali language!

In a relaxed chat with actor Sathyaraj, Shruti shared an intriguing story about her father’s passion for Bengali. Sathyaraj had praised Shruti for being multilingual, noting that Kamal Haasan had also learned Bengali for a film. However, Shruti added a surprising twist, saying, “He didn’t learn it for films. He learned it because he was in love with Aparna Sen.”

Shruti also pointed out Aparna Sen’s influence on her father’s film career, especially in Hey Ram, where Rani Mukerji’s character was named after the actress. In the period drama, Rani plays a Bengali woman and Kamal Haasan’s love interest. The connection between the two became a meaningful part of his work.
