Lalbaugcha Raja Donation Counting Begins With 80 Staff on Duty

The Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal started tallying the contributions made by devotees on Thursday, the opening day of the 2025 Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. Treasurer Mangesh Dattaram Dalvi reports that 80 individuals have been tasked with counting and have been notified that the devotees donated Rs 48 lakh last year.

“This is the box for the first day. The counting has only just begun. Three boxes are present. One box has been opened thus far. For the counting, 80 people are present. We received 48 lakh rupees on the first day last year,” he remarked. Millions of devotees visit this place annually for darshan. One of the festival’s primary attractions is the unveiling of the famous Ganesh statue, the Lalbaugcha Raja.

Lalbaugcha Ganesh History:

The Lalbaugcha Raja idol made the Ganeshotsav Mandal in Putlabai Chawl famous. Devotees established this site in 1934. The Kambli family has cared for the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganapati statue for more than 80 years. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will begin on August 27. The ten-day celebration starts on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month “Bhadrapada.” The festival opens with “Chaturthi” and concludes on “Anantha Chaturdashi.” People also call the festival “Vinayak Chaturthi” or “Vinayak Chavithi.” The celebration honors Ganesha as the “God of New Beginnings,” the “Remover of Obstacles,” and the deity of intellect and wisdom.

Mumbai Ganesh Celebrations:

Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great pomp. Thousands of devotees throng mandals to seek Lord Ganesh’s blessings. Families prepare delicious food, visit pandals, observe fasts, and bring Lord Ganesh idols into their homes as part of the festivities. For the past ten years, a Mumbai-based artist has changed the way devotees celebrate by creating Ganpati idols with eco-paper instead of POP or regular clay.
