Cardiac Surgeon Dies of Heart Attack: A cardiac surgeon died after suffering a heart attack during a routine visit to a patient at a hospital in Chennai. Reports say that 39-year-old cardiac surgeon Dr. Gradlin Roy collapsed and died during a routine ward visit yesterday morning. His colleagues gave him emergency treatment such as CPR, emergency angioplasty with stenting, intra-aortic balloon pump and ECMO, but they could not save his life, reports Hindustan Times.

‘The heartbreaking news came yesterday morning. 39-year-old cardiac surgeon Dr. Gradlin Roy collapsed during ward rounds. His colleagues fought bravely. They gave him CPR, emergency angioplasty with stenting, intra-aortic balloon pump and ECMO. But none of this could reverse the damage caused by the massive heart attack caused by 100% blockage of the left main artery. My heartfelt condolences.’ Sharing the news, Dr. Gradlin Roy’s friend and neurologist at CMC Vellore, Hyderabad, Dr Sudhir Kumar AD DM wrote on his X account. However, the note did not specify which hospital in Chennai Dr Gradlin Roy worked in.

He then listed the reasons for the heart attack. He wrote that long and irregular working hours, unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, mental strain, high stress levels, heavy smoking and drinking, and neglect of preventive care can all contribute to heart attacks. He also reminded doctors in his note to say ‘no’ if they are faced with excessive workload. He writes that those who dedicate their lives to saving the hearts of others often neglect their own hearts. After the note went viral, many people wrote about the workload they were experiencing and their lack of mental health.
