Kriti Sanon has opened up on gender bias in the industry, having made her way with films like Mimi, Adipurush, and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The National Award-winning actress put her case on yet another subtle but telling instance of inequality, often manifested in the treatment of both actors on set. Kriti Sanon Breaks Silence On Bollywood Inequality In Actors.
Bollywood actress opened up about how better vanity vans and bigger hotel rooms would get reserved for male actors. Along with much plushier cars which actresses don’t avail of despite working their butts off. It is the deep-rooted mindset inside the industry where it assigns that priority to male stars.
“Not about Stardom Alone”
As per Kriti, in fact, this is the other way around. She also mentioned that it’s an issue of not just box-office pull but about respect and equal treatment. She argued that even when the female actors do pretty well in their acting capabilities or get some awards. They are not often provided with similar infrastructure as their male counterparts. Kriti verbalized this bias as subtle yet very apparent when it’s faced repetitively: “Instead of just stardom,” said Kriti.
Reactions of Fans and Industry
A fresh debate now triggered by this statement on all platforms where fans say it takes courage to say this about an issue that has been ignored for so long. Reactions on social media included:
“Indeed, that someone like Kriti is calling such things out-has been going on for decades.”
Equality is greater than mere salary and should also extend to treatment on the set.
Some even argued that such disparities merely reflect the larger audience-driven market on which male stars are seen as bigger “investments.”
