Bigg Boss Scripted: Shakti Kapoor is celebrating his 73rd birthday on 3 September. He has worked in more than 600 films. In Ankit Chopra’s podcast (‘Timeout With Ankit,’ Ankit Chopra), he told that he got entry in the film industry through selection in FTII (Film and Television Institute, Pune). Here he first met with big stalwarts of the film industry like Ashok Kumar and Kamini Kaushal.
Shakti told that he had the acting bug since childhood, however, due to coming from a Punjabi middle class family of Delhi, his parents did not want him to go into the film line. In the podcast, Shakti told about the struggle between managing his father’s shop and his own dreams. Seeing Shakti’s condition, Sunil Dutt fed him food and gave him work.
Shakti Kapoor’s first big break came in the film Rocky (1981). This film was offered to him by Sanjay Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt. Shakti’s screen name was decided to be Karan Kapoor, although later it was changed to “Shakti Kapoor”. In a podcast, ‘Nandu’ had told that when he went to Sunil Dutt to ask for work, he had not eaten anything for three days. Sunil Dutt recognized him as soon as he saw his face, then gave him work, and also fed him a full meal.
When Shakti Kapoor reached Ankit Chopra’s podcast, he started teasing the host. Ankit asked him about his career. Asked about the reality in Bigg Boss, he asked whether everything happens according to the script in Bigg Boss. To this Shakti said no, brother… if it was so then why would I hide it… was I going to get more money. There is nothing like that. After this he called Ankit number 10. Shakti Kapoor said that, I had a film Baap Numberi To Beta Das Numberi. You are number 10, I have worked with your father as well, he was also very number 1. After this both Ankit Chopra and Shakti Kapoor laughed.
