On Instagram, he posted a powerful message, saying, “My heart goes out to those in Punjab impacted by these devastating floods. Sending prayers and strength. The spirit of Punjab shall never break. May God bless them all.” His message came as visuals of flooded towns and villages across the state continued to surface online.
The film industry has responded with an outpouring of support. Stars like Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt voiced their concern on social media. Alia also shared links for donations.
Sonu Sood launched a dedicated helpline and promised full assistance. Diljit Dosanjh adopted ten flood-affected villages. Ammy Virk pledged to help rebuild 200 homes.
Other Punjabi stars like Sonam Bajwa, Gippy Grewal, Satinder Sartaaj, and Karan Aujla joined the efforts by contributing resources and spreading awareness.
According to data from August 1 to September 1, the floods have affected over 2.56 lakh people in Punjab. Gurdaspur alone reported 1.45 lakh affected residents across 321 villages. Floods hit 12 districts, causing 29 deaths. Pathankot reported the highest toll with six fatalities. Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Mansa, Rupnagar, and Barnala each reported three deaths. Five other districts confirmed one fatality each. Three people remain missing in Pathankot. The floods began after heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir caused rivers like the Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej to overflow.
