Kalyani Priyadarshan’s latest film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is creating a strong buzz both in theatres and online. Directed by Dominic Arun, this Malayalam superhero movie was released on August 28, 2025, and has already impressed audiences with its grand visuals and unique storyline. Fans who missed the big-screen experience are now curious about when the film will be available on OTT
According to industry reports, the digital rights of Lokah have been acquired by Netflix, although the makers have not officially confirmed this. Speculations suggest that the movie might premiere in the last week of September, most likely around September 26. The streaming release is expected to be multilingual, available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. This wide release could help the film reach a larger audience outside Kerala.
Despite being in theatres for less than a week, Lokah has already shown an impressive box office run. Trade sources reveal that the movie collected nearly ₹39.37 crore net in India within six days. It started with ₹2.7 crore on its opening day and gradually picked up momentum. The weekend proved to be the strongest phase, with Saturday and Sunday bringing in ₹7.6 crore and ₹10.1 crore respectively. Even on weekdays, the collections remained steady, which indicates strong word-of-mouth appreciation.
The cast of the film is another highlight. Alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan, the movie features Naslen in a leading role, with important performances by Sandy Master, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, and Dulquer Salmaan. Their combined presence has added to the movie’s appeal.
Interestingly, the makers are also planning a theatrical release of the Hindi version, though the date is yet to be announced. With this expansion, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is aiming to move beyond the boundaries of Malayalam cinema and establish itself as a pan-India superhero franchise.
