Plant This in Your Garden to Please Goddess Durga This Navratri!

Why Hibiscus is Important for Navratri

Hibiscus flowers hold special religious significance during Navratri. People offer them to Goddess Durga as it is believed the goddess is pleased by these vibrant blooms. Many keep hibiscus plants at home or in their gardens to use fresh flowers for worship. But sometimes, the plant grows leaves but doesn’t bloom leaving devotees worried. So this Navratri plant this and have the best bloom.

Common Reasons Your Hibiscus Is not Blooming

Gardening expert Ramesh Kumar explains that pests, nutrient-deficient soil, and root problems are common reasons for hibiscus plants not flowering. When roots spread too much, they struggle to absorb enough nutrients, causing the plant to grow but not bloom. The solution is to prune the roots carefully and enrich the soil with organic manure like cow dung.

The Right Fertilizers to Encourage Flowers

Hibiscus needs a balanced mix of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. An NPK fertilizer is ideal for healthy growth and flowering. Besides these, trace minerals like sulfur, iron, boron, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc boost flower production. Mixing these nutrients into cow dung manure and applying to the soil nourishes the plant deeply.

Homemade Fertilizer Tips That Work Wonders

You can also make effective fertilizer using household items. Ramesh suggests mixing tea leaves, coffee grounds, and banana peels to enrich the soil naturally. This mix strengthens roots and increases flower numbers. Soaking onion and garlic skins in water for a few days and then watering the plant with this nutrient-rich water acts as a natural fertilizer.
