Do You Wanna Partner review: Tamannaah Bhatia’s behenhood core series

Do You Wanna Partner: These days, “Women in male-dominated fields” is a common online joke. Usually, it depicts a woman acting in a patriarchal or toxic way that is typically associated with men. The recurring theme is that these memes lack substance because they are humorous. The same is true of Do You Wanna Partner, a new “behenhood core” series on Amazon Prime Video. Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty portray two best friends attempting to build their own beer company while negotiating a male-dominated environment. Unfortunately, despite a great start, this show suffers from the male gaze epidemic, making the characters into caricatures and providing very no connection.

Do You Wanna Partner Story:
Shikha (Tamannaah) lost her white-collar job in Gurgaon. Her current goal is to use the time to bring her father’s (Indraneil Sengupta) craft beer manufacturing dream back to life. Anahita (played by Diana Penty), her best friend and marketing whiz, quits her own job to start a beer company. However, they realize that no one wants to believe that two women are creating alcohol. To portray their fictional boss, the mysterious billionaire David James, they hire an actor (Jaaved Jaaferi). However, they wind up taking on more than they can handle, with threats from the liquor baron who deceived Shikha’s father years prior (Neeraj Kabi) and a loan shark (Shweta Tiwari).

Plus Points:
Light and breezy tone – The narrative feels easy-going and never too heavy, even when the story meanders.

Jaaved Jaaferi’s performance – He shines as both Dylan and David, bringing quirk and charm to his roles.

Tamannaah–Diana chemistry – Their friendship on screen feels real, adding the only genuine human element to the story.

Minus Points:
Superficial treatment of serious issues – Real-world problems faced by women are shown lightly without depth.

Weak characterisation of leads – Diana and Tamannaah are reduced to caricatures, lacking naturalness and nuance.

Underutilised supporting cast – Neeraj Kabi is wasted in a one-dimensional role, and only Shweta Tiwari briefly stands out.

Do You Wanna Partner Movie Rating:
