Kantara Chapter 1 is one of the much-awaited films in 2025 starring Rishab Shetty at its peak. Fans predicted an announcement for sky-high ticket prices because of its grand release. However, in the unexpected turn of events, the tickets suddenly became affordable. For the general audience under the new cinema ticket price norms and regulations by the Karnataka government.
Based on the revised rules, single-screen theatres will now be charging the range between ₹120-200 for each ticket. For multiplexes, ticket prices have been capped at ₹236, including all premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX, ICE, and 2D. Interestingly enough, multiplexes with less than 75 seats do not fall under this cap. Theatre owners of such multiplexes can set their own pricing.
This regulation will ensure that even big-budget films like Kantara Chapter 1, with large-scale shooting and storytelling effects, will also be available to a widespread section of audiences.
Good News for Fans
Since the announcement itself, there was a lot of buzz about ‘Kantara Chapter-1’. A long runtime of 140 minutes, a historical backdrop set in the Kadamba dynasty era (300 CE), and the story of a Naga Sadhu in the mystical forests of Banavasi were enough bait for audiences to mentally prepare for a hefty price. But with the limits set by the government on pricing, and now, even this grandiose spectacle can be enjoyed without having to burn a hole in pockets.
Boost to Theatrical Exhibition
The reasonable pricing in tickets maybe encourage many viewers to visit cinemas again, instead of waiting for OTT releases. Given that much of the impact is derived from the film’s atmosphere and visuals, along with its spiritual underpinnings, viewing it on a very big screen should be way more powerful.
