Ileana South Indian Films: Ileana D’Cruz once ruled Telugu cinema; some of the biggest hits of the industry belonged to her, like Pokiri, Julayi, and Kick. Her screen presence and charm made her among the top heroines in South cinema. But she disappeared from fans’ reach in an instant when she walked off to Bollywood, and behind the glamor is a controversy that transformed her entire career.
This stir began when a Tamil filmmaker accused her of having collected a ₹40 lakh advance for a project and for backing out. She was supposedly rendering another movie by the time she was promised a date for the movie. The South Indian Film Chamber filed an inquiry into the case. Allowing her either return the advance or face the consequences. But Ileana did not pay the amount back, and this is what led to further complications.
To safeguard the interest of that producer, Film Chamber issued the notice across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam industries informing the filmmakers not to cast Ileana until she cleared the dues. Effectively, this created an unofficial ban on her across South cinema. Hence, the two ongoing projects found themselves lost for Ileana.
Among the lesser stormy happenings, Ileana’s much-advertised falling out bringing about the shooting of Shakti with Jr NTR. Worsened what she is renowned for, but in fact, this seems to have added fuel to the fire. Allegations hinted that she even did not promote it after the release and had ego clashes with the cast and crew, which worsened her ties with powerful people in the industry.

These are nothing compared to her Bollywood escape. After the success of Barfi! she only did Hindi films, finally shutting the door behind her as she entered the Bollywood era. Even though rumors sometimes pop up about her coming back, her absence in Telugu films can be accounted for by the advance payment dispute and her strained relationships in the industry.
