Ram Gopal Varma 2.0 Is Coming Soon: Says Manoj Bajpayee

Ram Gopal Varma 2.0: After several years apart, actor Manoj Bajpayee, who initially gained notoriety as the iconic Bhiku Mhatre in Ram Gopal Varma’s cult movie Satya, is preparing to work with the innovative director again. Famous for their groundbreaking work together on movies like Shool and Kaun, the pair is now collaborating on a horror comedy called Police Station Mein Bhoot. Manoj Bajpayee discussed what felt different this time around and what it was like to work with Varma again after such a long break in an exclusive media interview.

At least we’ve completed one schedule, but it’s too early to make any judgments. You will be astounded by this Ram Gopal Varma 2.0. I was astounded by the taking and the craft in the first schedule. I was alert for every shot, every detail, and every suggestion. I became aware that this was not the Ram Gopal Varma I had previously collaborated with. This is a fresh RGV who surprises you with the way he sets up a situation and collaborates more than just directing. Although it’s still early, I can assure you that he will return, and in a big way.

RGV Earlier Films:

One of the most daring and engaging voices in Indian cinema, RGV left a lasting impression with films like Rangeela and Satya after starting his career with the groundbreaking Siva. He produced genre-defining movies like Kaun, Company, and Sarkar at the height of his career, making him a formidable force. But by the late 2000s, Varma’s technique seemed to be fading. The stories lost the bite that made them famous, and his distinctive style began to seem clichéd. A few of his pictures were able to leave a lasting impression, despite his continuous production.

About Police Station Mein Bhoot:
With Police Station Mein Bhoot, interest in and excitement for Varma’s upcoming project have returned. Recently, the director himself provided a unique opportunity for reflection. He posted a very personal reflection on social media during Satya’s re-release, which served as a sort of confession and a teaser for his planned comeback.

“I couldn’t understand why, with all my so-called intelligence, I didn’t set this film as a benchmark for whatever I should do in the future,” he wrote after returning to the hotel and sitting in the dark after the Satya screening. I also understood that I sobbed for that version of myself as well as for the tragedy in the movie. And I sobbed with remorse for betraying everyone who trusted me because of Satya. I didn’t realize this until two days ago, but my accomplishment and conceit were what made me intoxicated, not alcohol.
