Kamal Haasan, Simran and Karthi Mourn Robo Shankar Death

Robo Shankar Death:


Tamil actor and comedian Robo Shankar, who was loved for his unique style of comedy, has passed away at the age of 46. He breathed his last on September 18, 2025, at GEM Hospital in Chennai.

Robo Shankar Death:

According to the hospital’s official statement, he was admitted on September 16 in a critical state after suffering from “a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition.” Despite being treated in the ICU, his health kept worsening, and he passed away at 9:05 pm.


As soon as the news came out, condolences poured in from celebrities and political leaders. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan shared an emotional note, saying, “Robo Shankar Robo is just a pseudonym. In my dictionary, you are a human. Therefore, my younger brother. So, will you just leave me and go? You left, your job is done. My job remains unfinished.”

Veteran actress Radikaa Sarathkumar remembered his cheerful nature: “Always kept everyone happy with his humour and worked very hard to keep giving his best. Such a great great loss.”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also paid tribute, recalling how Shankar moved from stage shows to television and then to films, entertaining millions. Actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar expressed her shock by sharing her last phone call with him: “I spoke to him on Sunday and now he’s no more… just too sudden.”

Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar sharing her call log wrote, “I spoke to him on Sunday and now he’s now more.. just too sudden .. I just can’t believe it.. prayers to the family.. he made so many people laugh..may he rest in peace..”

Actors like Simran and Silambarasan (Simbu) also remembered him for spreading smiles wherever he went.

Karthi wrote, “It aches to see how destructive choices over time can erode health. A great talent gone too soon. My deepest condolences to his family and fans. #RoboShankar”

Robo Shankar became popular with his performances in movies like Maari, Irumbu Thirai, and Vellainu Vandhutta Vellaikaran. Apart from films, he entertained audiences on television through shows like Kings of Comedy Juniors and Top Cooku Dupe Cooku. His last film was Sotta Sotta Nanaiyuthu directed by Naveedh S Fareedh.

The actor is survived by his wife Priyanka and daughter Indraja, who appeared with Vijay in Bigil. His sudden passing has left the Tamil film industry and his fans heartbroken.

Robo Shankar’s legacy as a comedian who brought joy to countless people will always be remembered.
