Bigg Boss Malayalam 7: Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 is currently making headlines far beyond Kerala. While the reality show has always been a hot topic in the state, this season has sparked nationwide conversations, thanks to the representation of a lesbian couple among the contestants.
Contestants Adhila and Noora, who openly acknowledged their relationship, quickly became the center of both support and controversy inside the house. Their journey took a heated turn when fellow contestant Lakshmi made homophobic remarks against the couple, questioning their place in the competition. The comments did not sit well with viewers, sparking outrage on social media.
The issue escalated to the point where host Mohanlal had to step in during a weekend episode. Known for his calm but firm demeanor, Mohanlal openly condemned Lakshmi’s behavior, calling out her homophobic attitude. He extended support to Adhila and Noora, underlining the importance of respect and inclusivity within the house. The intervention not only won appreciation from fans in Kerala but also resonated across the country.
Soon after, discussions around the incident spilled over to Reddit and other platforms, with threads gaining traction among audiences outside Kerala. Many netizens praised the show for bringing queer representation to mainstream television, while others debated the larger challenges LGBTQ+ individuals still face in Indian society. Some users lauded Mohanlal’s stand as a positive step for visibility, while others criticized Lakshmi’s remarks as reflective of deep-rooted prejudice.
The controversy has now transcended regional boundaries, with viewers from different parts of India chiming in. Supporters argue that showcasing a same-sex couple on a widely watched platform like Bigg Boss is a significant cultural moment that could help normalize queer relationships in popular media.
As Season 7 continues, the presence of Adhila and Noora is being seen as more than just a storyline—it has turned into a powerful conversation starter. Whether inside the house or outside on social media, their journey highlights the pressing need for acceptance, inclusivity, and respect in both entertainment and everyday life.
Wow, was going to sleep & saw this , it made my day , so happy that other contestants wholeheartedly accepted it ♥️
IM GONNA CRY THIS IS SO WHOLESOME, and the way everyone is wholeheartedly clapping for them and supporting them, no homophobia nothing 👏👏👏
Its also so sweet that the host was defending them when that one contestant was like my 3 year old watches this and he’d get the wrong ideas if the couples were here since they are lesbian and how no one would invite them to their house but the host was like i would.
And here we have Amaal calling Abhishek, “H*jra” as a derogatory term.
So wholesome to watch! But sadly it will never happen in BiggBoss Hindi, and the makers won’t even take risk, due to where the majority of the audience are from, it’s still a taboo topic in those 3-4 states.
Hindi bigg boss is still stuck with misogyny, colorism, and using transphobic words as abuse.
