In a recent roundtable conversation, Boney Kapoor candidly discussed how good cinema is always accepted countrywide irrespective of language. While Siddarth asked if something like that could happen today, as the director K Balachander and south Indian actor Kamal Haasan were popular in the south but were not popular in the north Boney Kapoor responded by taking out Jr NTR’s name.
When Siddarth asked if a new face and a new director would be accepted like that in the north today. Immediately Boney Kapoor replied, “Yes, why has Aditya Chopra taken Tarak commonly known as Jr NTR for his film War 2?” Vamsi laughed quickly and corrected Boney Kapoor saying that Jr NTR wasn’t a new face. Then Indian 2 actor Siddarth weighed in by saying “You are talking about the biggest superstar of this south industry working with the biggest superstar Hrithik Roshan of this north industry, working with the biggest producer in India.”
Jr NTR is not just a South Indian actor, With RRR he is known to the international audience. But Boney Kapoor being in the Indian film industry calling Jr NTR a new face raises eyebrows. The irony is that, His elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor made her theatrical Telugu debut with Jr NTR. She made her debut with a film called Devara which became a massive success across the world.
