Thamma Poster: Maddock Films has unveiled its new entry into the popular horror-comedy franchise with Thamma featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film will be directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and will be the fifth in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which has given crowd-pleasing hits with a mix of scares and laughs in the past.
The movie has a rare combination of talent coming together. Ayushmann Khurrana, who has been associated with innovative choices, collaborates with Rashmika Mandanna, who is still growing her base in Bollywood. With experienced actors Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui along as well, expectations were high by nature when the makers unveiled the first-look poster of the film.

But far from generating buzz around the story, the poster has left the net polarized. Many social media users lambasted the design, saying that it appeared to be “AI-generated” and poorly retouched. Some even called the artwork amateurish compared to what one would expect from a big production house such as Maddock Films.
Besides the poster review, most comments accused the casting, especially Rashmika Mandanna’s, of the movie. Most users contended that she did not seem to match the tone of the narrative and that the poster made the inconsistency more striking. While there were some who came to the actress’s defense, the overall sentiment online was one of dismay.
Even with the criticism, Thamma retains interest as part of Maddock’s growing universe of horror comedies, a series that has already demonstrated its box office value. Whether the film succeeds or fails in spite of negative buzz about its poster will be determined by the quality of the trailer and eventual release, but for now the discourse around Thamma stems from the heightened wariness audiences have developed toward marketing that comes across as forced or uncreative.
