Alice in Borderland 3: All Games Ranked by Difficulty

Alice in Borderland 3 raises the stakes of the deadly playground with new games, but longtime fans find themselves feeling mixed- the games are entertaining , but not the clever, layered challenges from Seasons 1 or 2. The previous seasons often hide loopholes and tricks in the games that can reward observation and teamwork, but paired with lots of spectacle and threat, Season 3 games do not measure up. Here’s how we rank the absolute best games, from easiest to hardest in Alice in Borderland 3.

Old Maid

A very simple game to start with. The game does everything well for suspense, but has nothing going on; once you draw Joker, the game is over. Timing is all there is in terms of strategy.

Sacred Fortune

Visually impressive and rich in its themes, but oddly superficial. The game only interrogated the players fortune once and made no attempt to look for patterns, which feels not like Arisu at all. It was still an incredibly moving ending.

Zombie Hunt

Intense to begin with, but flawed on many logical fronts. If everyone just got on board with turning into zombies, survival rates would have skyrocketed. This is Americanised version of the Queen of Spades game but without some of the high stakes involved.

Kick the Can

A playground classic transformed into a life and death experience which was somewhat underutilised. With 10 rounds to play with, there was plenty of room for players’ to modify their strategies, yet most of them just repeated same strategy. There was only 1 admirable bottle fake, therefore no other traps were developed in the round.

Tokyo Bingo Tower

Considerable spectacle, but not nearly as much substance. Climbing up and down whilst attempting to eenk out a bingo line could have promoted some tactical cooperation, but it largely came down to sheer luck. The even the “free” button drew little attention away from this notion by breaking the very rule it was intended to uphold.

Runaway Train

This was one of the more frustrating entries. There are all these rules, and poison gas raises the stakes, but no apparent strategy allowed for any play. Couldn’t players have explored rooftop gaps, used sacrifices, or attempted to modify the behaviour of the bird? Instead the group cleared it cleanly; the gameplay was devoid of any grit.

Potential Endings

The ending and perhaps the most ambitious. Dice rolls and branching paths, as well as glimpses into alternate endings delve into fate versus choice. In the end, repetition slows the tempo and two game strategies shine-the buddy tactic and the final reveal of the baby.

Final Game

Less a puzzle, more an inconclusive story development. Its absence of structure makes ranking it with the others nearly impossible.

In all, while S3’s games are visually breathtaking, many lack the cunning depth of past seasons.
