Puri-Sethupathi film marked a special date for the first look release

Puri-Sethupathi: Tamil star Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi surprised everyone when he decided to act in a film of Puri Jagannadh. Now, according to the latest update from the makers, the title and teaser of the film will be released on Puri Jagannadh’s birthday, i.e, September 28th.

Star cast in the film

Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, the film also stars Tabu, Samyuktha Menon, Duniya Vijay, VTV Ganesh and others in the noted roles. With this star cast backing the film, fans of the actor and the director are hoping this combination will work on the screen.

Puri’s downfall

Puri Jagannadh, the filmmaker has a major fan base among the movie going audience. But, for the last decade his films have been tanking one after the other at the box office. His last two outings are Liger and Double Ismart. The former was released with sky high expectations and starred Vijay Devarakonda in the lead. Puri aggressively promoted the film across the country, the film was supposed to be Puri’s biggest in his career. But it failed very badly at the box office.

Then Puri chose to do a sequel to his hit film Ismart Shankar with Ram. For Double Ismart too Puri bought in big guns, he chose Sanjay Dutt to play the antagonist and made the film with his trademark characterization. But the audiences who saw it felt cringe, and they rejected the film from the get go.

But, having gone through these failures and trade analysts predicting that his career may be finished, he surprised everyone by announcing a film with Vijay Sethupathi.

Vijay scoring back to back hits

With Puri in the down phase, Vijay from the other side scored back to back hits in the form of ‘Maharaja’ and ‘Thailavan Thalaivii’. Both these films did exceptionally well at the box office, with Maharaja being the biggest hit across the country. In this film Vijay’s performance was lauded by many.

We have to see that Vijay’s success streak will continue with Puri’s film. Will puri be able to deliver this time around only the clicking clock has all the answers.
