Karachi Bakery Hyderabad: A recent Reddit discussion has emerged over charges at Karachi Bakery’s Masjid Banda outlet in Hyderabad. The user shared that the outlet charged customers an additional 5% GST over the maximum retail price (MRP), despite the packaging stating “inclusive of all taxes.” The user asked members if this should be reported to authorities.
Some users directed other Redditors that GST should not be charged over MRP if the package states that it is already inclusive of all taxes. A user pointed out to double-check the bill to see if there were additional items that were charged GST. Another user noted that if the charges were applied improperly, the aspect of it could be reported on the official GST portal.
Some users pointed this out to be a phenomena associate with GST 2.0 pricing. One user mentioned that the MRP of a biscuit pack was 250₹, but was sold at 220₹ inclusive of GST. They stated that a billing difference could occur if the printed MRP and billed price did not align.
The conversation also revisited previous complaints. One user alleged that Karachi Bakery used to strike through the printed prices on a biscuit box when selling on Swiggy, and charged him more than the displayed price. The user went on to claim that after the complaint, Swiggy had refunded his claimed overcharge in the end, and indicated that he regretted not bringing the matter up with the consumer forum.
It must be noted that these are unverified but rather presented as user experiences on Reddit. This article would not wish to defame Karachi Bakery but rather re-present consumer (user) claims made in an online forum.
