After the huge success of Akhanda, Nandamuri Balakrishna is returning with its much-awaited sequel, Akhanda 2. The film has already created massive buzz as it marks Balayya’s first pan-India release. The makers are planning a wide release across multiple languages, especially targeting the North Indian audience where Balakrishna’s action image has a growing fan base.

In Tollywood, Akhanda 2 will have no competition during its release on December 5. Many Telugu producers have decided to postpone their films to avoid clashing with Balayya’s power-packed entertainer. This gives Akhanda 2 a solo window to dominate the Telugu box office. Trade experts predict that if the movie gets a positive response, it could easily enter the ₹100 crore club within days.

However, the real test lies in the North. On the same day, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film Durandhar will also hit the screens. Directed by Aditya Dhar, known for Uri: The Surgical Strike, this film boasts an impressive cast featuring Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. With such a powerful lineup, Durandhar is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year.

Despite the strong competition, Akhanda 2 has an advantage with its intense action sequences and spiritual storyline revolving around the theme of Hindutva. If North audiences connect with this concept, the film could outperform its rival even in the Hindi belt.

Trade circles believe that both films have the potential to collect record-breaking numbers if they receive positive word-of-mouth. While Durandhar aims to showcase high-octane patriotism and drama, Akhanda 2 promises divine energy and mass appeal — setting the stage for one of the most exciting box office battles of 2025.
