Deepika Padukone becomes India’s first Mental Health Ambassador

Mental Health Ambassador:

On October 10, celebrated as World Mental Health Day, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone announced a major milestone in her journey as a mental health advocate. She has been appointed as the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Mental Health Ambassador:

Deepika shared the news on her Instagram handle, expressing her gratitude. In her post, she wrote that she feels “deeply honoured” to receive this responsibility. She also shared a photo with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and senior official Punya Salila Srivastava during the event.

In her caption, Deepika wrote, “On World Mental Health Day, I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador.” She added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has taken strong steps to make mental health an important part of public health.

Reflecting on her own experience, Deepika shared that through her foundation — The Live Love Laugh Foundation (TLLLF) — she has seen the power of collective effort in building a mentally healthy India. She expressed her eagerness to work under the guidance of the Ministry to further strengthen India’s mental health framework.

Her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, reacted proudly to her announcement, commenting, “So proud of you ❤️👏🏽.”

Deepika has long been an advocate for mental health awareness. She founded The Live Love Laugh Foundation in 2015 after opening up about her own battle with depression. Since then, she has played an active role in encouraging conversations around emotional well-being and mental health support in India.

On the film front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again,” which grossed ₹372 crore worldwide. She will next appear in Shah Rukh Khan’s “King” and in a film with Allu Arjun, directed by Atlee.
