Is Kareena Kapoor’s Diet Story Getting Hard to Swallow?

Kareena Kapoor’s Diet: In the year of 2008, the debate on size zero in Bollywood managed to bring Kareena Kapoor along with her nutritionist into the limelight. The book by Rujuta had an unqualified endorsement from Kareena with claims that she changed her habits after gorging on parathas, paneer, and the desi home-cooked spread. The whole message was clear-eat an Indian, be thin. The book went on to sell several million copies and launched Kareena’s so-called image into a high profile glam diva, fit while living desi.

Two decades down the line, things remain quite the same. Kareena and Rujuta continue to promote the usual ghar ka khana, dal chawal, lauki sabzi, and poha. But then who will buy such nonsense? After all, one can’t possibly expect a leading Bollywood actor to survive on ghar-ka-khana, as she flaunts on Instagram a collection of wine glasses packed with mocktails, pasta, and rich desserts, right?

Kareena Kapoor’s Diet: Revealing What Lies Behind the Plate

Kareena has often spoken about her diet quite frankly, however, there have been some occasions when she actually had to talk about her diet in the news, more on the lines of parathas for breakfast, which was contrary to a certain degree of consideration during the whole day. She would keep an eye on portions and maintain her macro balance. It is not about eating weird food; that is the beauty of discipline.

The “size-zero” myth was not to prevent one from Indian food; it was to eat Indian food wisely. With dietary discipline, one can lose or maintain weight while enjoying desi foods.

Desi Food Is Not the Culprit

The issue is not the Indian food itself. It is over-consuming and not moving enough. Parathas, idlis, dosas, khichdi – these foods can all be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. At face value Rujuta’s ideas may appear very simple, but they are realistic and sustainable requests. After all, these fad diets will come and go but ghar ka khana will be forever.
