Netizen Spotlights Growing Begging Issue in Hyderabad

Begging Issue in Hyderabad: Hyderabad citizens are now complaining increased nuisance caused by the beggars at major traffic signals. Long-time residents and everyone who passes through have reported that certain areas like Nanal Nagar X Road, Shamshabad Flyover Pillar No. 216, and Wipro Circle have become to hot to beg.

The Everyday Struggle of Commuters

Most of them are narrow and congested for about 14 hours from 10 a.m. to midnight. As commuters have reported, the same faces appear at these signals recurrently, that is, an elderly man and a trans person. Some seem to have an organized or repetitive pattern. While some beggars maintain distance, others gropes or harasses people, putting discomfort, security concern for most motorists, especially on 2-wheelers and autos.

Drive against ‘Expectations’ of the Public

They moan under pressure to part with cash without relenting, wondering why taxpayer money or provisions of law had not taken care of such a situation. “It is not a toll gate. Windows can be raised in cars, but for bikers or auto commuters, it is a constant hassle,” says one commuter. Much exposure, it seems, has sunk many under feeling overwhelmed and helpless, stirring a growing disconnect between public expectations and law enforcement presence.

Begging Issue in Hyderabad: Need for Action

Clear by now is the impasse: commuters do not know who to approach. Loss of confidence in their commitment to take visible action has shut people down to traffic and law. With begging at signals surging steadily, there is a need to urgently coordinate safety with the welfare of the vulnerable. Public awareness, enforcement, and social support initiatives may have to create a balance between the somewhat unique needs of commuters and the marginalized population dependent on street begging.

The most significant concern is high urban outcomes, mingling the traffic problem and social issues. Maybe the Hyderabad authorities should rethink traffic as well as social welfare so that an efficient public commuting system is developed for everyone.
