Rishabh Shetty Kantara Chapter ‘1’ is a milestone in his career, it is a prequel film of Kantara. Rishabh played the lead in both these films, his performance in both these films is top notch. His portrayal of a possessed man in Buta Kola scenes are electric on screen. 


Rishabh Shetty acted and directed both these films under Hombale films banner. Rishabh shot the first film in his hometown with a medium budget of 15 crores, for the second installment he expanded his vision and went back with the time period. 

Writing

The first film released in 2022 dealt with land rights issues, whereas the second film also dealt with the issue but further went onto address the border and cultural infusions. In both these films the content is a mere skeleton, Rishabh took this skeleton and made the film as a piece of calling that he had to address.

While Kantara Chapter ‘1’ is a film that has a fixed set of characters, sure the film’s world in the second film expanded. But still the film explored a little with the kingdom and foreign traders. Kantara Chapter ‘1’ and Kantara both these films have Buta Kola as a central plot point and Rishabh performance in these scenes are magnetic and ecstatic, so due to this audience members started emanating the scenes in theatres. Makers released a warning not to do it because the film is not an imitation piece, it is performed with utmost care and respect for the ritual. This obsession of audience members and fans can be seen as imitation and disrespectful for the ritual and may hurt the sentiments of some people.
