Post Office Insurance Plans
In recent years, more people have shown interest in buying health insurance. Earlier, insurance policies came with an added GST, making them slightly expensive. However, after the recent government reform, GST has been removed from insurance policies, encouraging more people to buy them.
To support middle-class families, the Indian Post Office has introduced affordable health and life insurance schemes. These plans are designed to help families during difficult times like accidents, hospitalization, or sudden death of the earning member.
This plan offers high coverage for a small premium. With an annual payment of ₹755, policyholders can get up to ₹15 lakh coverage. In case of accidental death, the nominee will receive ₹15 lakh. If the insured person suffers from permanent disability or paralysis, the full amount is also paid.
For hospitalization due to an accident, up to ₹1 lakh will be provided for medical expenses. If admitted to a general ward, the insured gets ₹1,000 per day, and if admitted to the ICU, ₹2,000 per day. In case of fractures, ₹25,000 is paid. Additionally, ₹1 lakh each is provided for children’s education and marriage if the insured dies or becomes permanently disabled.
The second plan offers ₹10 lakh coverage for an annual premium of ₹399. The nominee gets ₹10 lakh in case of accidental death or permanent disability. For hospitalization expenses, up to ₹60,000 is covered, while ₹30,000 is available for outpatient treatments.
Families also receive ₹5,000 for funeral expenses and up to ₹25,000 for transportation during emergencies. However, to avail of these benefits, one must have an India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) account. The policy can be renewed every year.
These affordable schemes show how the Indian Post Office is helping common citizens secure their future with small investments and large benefits.
