Fake Paneer Alert: Warning Symptoms and How to Identify It Easily at Home

Paneer was a special food that you would only eat on special occasions. Its rising demand has led to the creation of a counterfeit market. At present, the market is flooded with fake paneer. This is particularly the case during the festive seasons. Fake paneer is a serious health hazard to everyone. It can damage your liver and kidneys quite a lot. After a long time, organ failure will be the result of consuming it. The risk of cancer is also increased by it. So, first, get to know the symptoms for identifying it.

Harmful Effects of Fake Paneer

Fake paneer is like a slow poison to your body. To enhance the quality of their product, the producers use urea and detergents in it. Besides that, they put harmful starch and other chemicals into it. Once these toxicants are taken through the intestines, they get into the blood stream. Quite often the pain in the stomach can be felt right after eating.

Also, vomiting and diarrhea have been pointed out as the most frequent symptoms. Some people may experience severe allergic reaction symptoms, as well. These symptoms are associated with liver and kidney damages and can be of a long-term nature. Besides that, hydrogenated vegetable oil is capable of blocking your arteries.

Simple Tests for Real Paneer

Real paneer is soft and smells of milk. Fake paneer is rubbery and when you try to stretch it, it behaves differently. In most cases, it has a strong chemical odor. Drop the paneer in a glass of water. Real paneer will be on the water surface. Fake paneer will be going to the bottom immediately. Take a small piece and rub it on your palm. With fake paneer, the hand will be sticky and the piece will be stretchy. Real paneer will not stretch at all.

The Iodine Test

Do the iodine test in a simple manner at your place. Put a drop of iodine tincture on it. In fake paneer, the initial color of the fabric quickly changes to blue after a few seconds. Real paneer keeps its original color. This means there is starch present. With your finger, press the paneer piece. Fake paneer will react like plastic and bounce back. Real paneer will get crushed or broken easily.

The Hot Water Test

Put the paneer in hot water. Look at its reaction carefully. The fake one will melt up quickly. It might even break in the water. The real one will keep most of its form. It won’t melt or break down.
