Kantara Chapter ‘1’ is on its way to reach the top grossing film in India in 2025. This divine blockbuster film is achieving this feat because the film is having a stupendous response during the weekends. The film is running housefull shows in all the areas and theatres. 

Critics claimed it dull down

Kantara Chapter ‘1’: This film opened with a good word of mouth and it grossed 125 crores on its opening day. But after the initial week run and zooming past 500 crores the film slowed down at the box office. 

Critics took this opportunity and said this film is also a lost hope this year to reach the 1000 crore mark. Now, with the film still running steadily in certain centres. 

Competition from other films

After the release of Kantara Chapter ‘1’, Telugu cinema released Pradeep Ranganathan’s ‘Dude’, and Siddu Jonnalagadda ‘Telusu Kada’ and ‘Mithra Mandali’ with Pawan Kalyan’s ‘They Call Him ‘OG’ still running in theatres… 

Kantara is in Oscar race

Kantara Chapter ‘1’ is trying to get into the Oscar race, the makers of the film feel this subject matter of folk lore and divinity combined can be the perfect setup for Oscars to select this film. Fans are already urging the makers to send this film to the Oscars. 

Will be the number in next week

Rishabh Shetty worked on this Kantara film for more than 4 years now. The first film Kantara released in 2022, now this prequel Kantara Chapter ‘1’ released in 2025. For his 4-5 years of hard work Kannada cinema is reaching great heights in Indian cinema. There is no doubt that Kantara Chapter ‘1’ will be the number one film of 2025.
