Kartik Purnima 2025:
Kartik Purnima is one of the most sacred and spiritually powerful days in the Hindu calendar. In 2025, it will be celebrated on November 5. This full moon day falls in the month of Kartik, which comes after Diwali. The festival holds deep importance for devotees of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. It is believed that taking a holy dip and performing good deeds on this day helps in washing away sins and bringing peace and prosperity.
As per the Hindu Panchang, the Purnima Tithi begins at 10:36 PM on November 4, 2025, and ends at 6:48 PM on November 5, 2025.
Moonrise: 5:11 PM
Holy Bath (Snaan) Muhurat: 4:52 AM – 5:44 AM
Morning Puja Time: 7:58 AM – 9:20 AM
Evening Pradosh Kaal: 5:15 PM – 7:05 PM
Deep Daan Muhurat: 5:15 PM – 5:50 PM
Devotees perform sacred baths in holy rivers, especially in the Ganga, and offer charity (daan). Lighting of diyas (lamps) is a key ritual. The lamps are often in odd numbers—like 5, 7, 11, or 21—and filled with ghee or mustard oil.
Significance of the Day
Kartik Purnima is also celebrated as Dev Deepawali, especially in Varanasi (Kashi). It is believed that on this day, all gods descend to the ghats of Kashi to celebrate Diwali. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu in the form of Lakshmi-Narayan and seek blessings for prosperity and good fortune.
Taking a holy dip before sunrise and donating food, clothes, or oil lamps is considered highly auspicious. Some people also observe a fast, taking only fruits or water after praying to Lord Ganesha. Many families perform Satyanarayan Katha and light five diyas in the corners of their house to invite positive energy.
In essence, Kartik Purnima is a festival of light, purity, and devotion — a day to cleanse one’s mind and soul while spreading kindness and faith.
