New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani: The American-Christian elite suddenly feels threatened after Zohran Mamdani, a man with a Muslim name, African ancestry, and Indian ancestry, was elected mayor of New York City. Not because of Mamdani’s actions, but rather because of what his name implies he ought to be. His surname is how the ancient Gujarati traders would pronounce “Muhammadan,” and his name is Persian meaning “bloom.”

How do Americans See Muslims in Modern World? 

“Christian” has gradually evolved into a code term for “white” in modern-day America. Also, white Christianity is afraid of complexity, color, and migration, the same qualities that made America what it is today. They see “Muslim” as the great enemy who stole Jerusalem from Jews and Christians. Therefore, Mamdani’s win is a legendary disruption rather than a civic event.

Mamdani’s refusal to fit neatly into boxes irritates people even more. He advocates for transgender, gay, and lesbian organizations. There is no hijab worn by his partner. He is openly progressive and at ease in queer environments. What sort of Muslim is he, then? A pious one? A cultural one? Or an unbeliever of Muslim ancestry?

Is Everyone Confused of Zohran Mamdani?
His fellow believers are confused as well. Despite claiming to be progressive, many left-wing Muslim supporters continue to be proudly homophobic “because Allah demanded so”. However, Mamdani’s life makes fun of that issue. He acts as though freedom and faith can coexist, which is too orthodox for both Christian fundamentalists and Islamists.

His opponents said that they would travel to Israel to give thanks to God when asked what he would do after winning. Mamdani promised to remain in New York and carry out his duties. Performative faith and professional integrity were shown in that one statement.

What Caste is Zohran Mamdani?
To understand the caste and his trade we need to first get the understanding in theological way. His last name, Gujarat, indicates his origins. In particular, the Khoja world-mercantile Muslim societies function socially like Hindu caste trade guilds but are descended from the Prophet via the Shia line. These groups emerged during the height of maritime trade with the Shia empires of Safavid Persia in 1600 AD and Fatimid Egypt in 1000 AD.
