PAN Card Holders Alert: Your PAN May Become Inactive If You Don’t Do This

PAN Card Holders Alert: Your PAN May Become Inactive If You Don’t Do This

PAN Card Holders Alert:

The Central Government has given a serious warning to all PAN card holders. Many people have not yet linked their PAN card with Aadhaar, and this can cause major financial problems. The deadline set by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has already ended. PAN cards that are not linked with Aadhaar are now turning inactive. This can stop financial transactions and create legal trouble for the holders.

PAN Card Holders Alert:

According to Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, everyone must link their PAN card with Aadhaar. This rule helps prevent tax evasion and removes duplicate PAN cards. It also supports a transparent financial system. The government extended the deadline many times, but lakhs of people still failed to complete the process. Now, to link PAN and Aadhaar, one must pay a ₹1000 penalty.

If a PAN card becomes inactive, the person will be treated as someone without a valid PAN. This can affect many important financial activities. You will not be able to file income tax returns, and any pending refunds will stop. Your salary, fixed deposit interest, and other income will face higher TDS deductions. Transactions above ₹50,000 in banks will not go through. Inactive PAN cards can also affect property purchases, mutual fund investments, and loan approvals.

However, there is still a chance to fix the issue. You can reactivate your PAN by paying ₹1000 and linking it with your Aadhaar. Visit the official Income Tax e-filing website and check the PAN-Aadhaar linking status. If it shows “not linked,” complete the process online by entering your Aadhaar number and paying the penalty. Once done, your PAN will become active again within a few days.

The government has made these rules to build a secure and transparent financial system. Ignoring them can bring financial loss and legal risk. Every taxpayer should check their PAN-Aadhaar link status immediately. Completing the linking process ensures smooth banking and prevents future problems. Keeping your PAN active also helps maintain your tax record and financial identity. So, do not delay — link your PAN with Aadhaar now and stay safe from future troubles.
