Delhi Bomb Blast Near Red Fort: 8 Dead, 24 Injured

Delhi Bomb Blast:


A major explosion took place near the historic Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, causing panic in the area. The blast occurred in a parked car close to Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station. According to early reports, at least eight people lost their lives and 24 others were injured in the incident.

As soon as the explosion was reported, seven fire tenders and emergency teams rushed to the scene to control the fire and rescue people trapped in nearby vehicles. The explosion was so powerful that three to four cars parked nearby caught fire and were severely damaged. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.


The Delhi Police and Special Cell officers reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area. A high alert was declared across the city, and security forces intensified patrolling at important locations. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also reached the site to assist in the investigation.

At this stage, the cause of the blast remains unknown. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of a terror attack, but they said it is too early to confirm anything. “We are still investigating the cause. It would be premature to make any assumptions right now,” said a senior Delhi Police officer quoted by ANI.

The explosion has also prompted neighboring Uttar Pradesh to issue a security alert. Authorities there have been asked to monitor crowded public areas and metro stations closely.
