Bison OTT: Dhruv Vikram leads this sports drama from director Mari Selvaraj, which had generated remarkable buzz and outstanding box office revenues and reviews since its release. Reports from Sacnilk have it that the film has grossed nearly ₹70 crore globally since its release on October 17, 2023. In India alone, Bison mustered some ₹5.67 crore-another impressive number for a film on themes such as social issues.

Bison OTT Release and Storyline

On November 21, the filmmakers confirmed that Bison is to have an OTT release on Netflix. This kabaddi film depicts caste prejudice, social injustices, and myriad other forms of societal injustices, drawing inspiration from real events that transpired in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

The movie is partially inspired by the life of Arjuna Awardee and national kabaddi player Manathi Ganeshan, whose very own struggles and triumphs embody the essence of this movie. Dhruv Vikram plays a kabaddi player battling issues of gender and class that Mari Selvaraj has interwoven in a narrative of sports, politics, and human emotions.

Cast and crew

The film’s female lead is Anupama Parameswaran, while Rajesh Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathi, Ameer, Azhagam Perumal, Aruvi Madan, and Anurag Arora play key roles. The score is by Nivas Prasanna, with cinematography by Ezhil Arasu.

Produced by Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions, Bison is garnering applause for its realistic portrayal of life in the villages, heavy-duty acting performances, and emotional heartland thus entrenching Mari Selvaraj as one of the most significant modern directors in India.
