Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, the screenwriters, have frequently discussed how Sanjeev Kumar’s Thakur was initially supposed to kill Amjad Khan’s Gabbar with his spiked shoes, but the censor board requested that the film’s finale be changed because it was released during the Emergency.

About Sholay:
The audience witnessed Thakur beating up Gabbar before reluctantly turning him over to the police, who showed there in time to apprehend the infamous dacoit and ask Thakur, a former police officer, to abide by the law.
Following its release on August 15, 1975, a historic year for Indian cinema that also witnessed the advent of films like “Deewar”, “Aandhi”, “Nishant”, “Chupke Chupke”, and “Chhoti Si Baat”, Sholay became a cultural sensation. However, Sholay has a particular place in the hearts of Indian moviegoers who use its dialogue in casual conversations.
