Many diabetics believe honey is better than sugar, but medical experts say it can still increase blood sugar levels. Honey has natural sugars like glucose and fructose, which quickly raise blood sugar. So, people with diabetes should take honey only in very small amounts or avoid it completely.
Honey can also be risky for people with allergies. Anyone who is allergic to bees, bee pollen, or bee products may develop allergic reactions after eating honey. Symptoms may include itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, or rashes. In such cases, honey should be avoided.
