Soft Rotis in Winter: Follow These Simple Dough Secrets

Soft Rotis in Winter: Follow These Simple Dough Secrets

Soft Rotis in Winter:
Rotis are an everyday food in many Indian homes. But during winter, many people feel that their rotis become hard, dry, or difficult to chew. Cold weather affects the dough and makes the rotis lose moisture quickly. If you also face this problem, a few easy changes in your cooking routine can help you make soft rotis every time.

Soft Rotis in Winter:

The first and most helpful tip is to add a little ghee or oil while kneading the dough. This gives the dough extra moisture and softness. You do not need to add too much—just one or two teaspoons are enough. Adding more fat can change the texture, so use only a small amount.

Another important step is using warm water instead of normal water. Warm water helps the dough stay pliable and smooth. Some people even use warm milk for kneading to make rotis softer and tastier. In winter, warm water makes a big difference in keeping the rotis soft for a longer time.

The softness of rotis also depends on how well you knead the dough. If the dough is not kneaded properly, the rotis turn hard quickly. Spend a few extra minutes kneading until the dough becomes smooth and stretchy. You can also add a small pinch of baking soda to make the dough puffier. This helps the rotis stay soft even the next day.

When rolling the rotis, avoid making them too thin or too big. Thin rotis lose moisture faster and become hard. Also make sure that the tawa is fully hot before placing the roti on it. Cooking on a half-heated tawa makes the roti dry.

Once the roti is cooked on both sides, transfer it to a plate and cover it immediately with a clean cloth or lid. Covering keeps the steam inside and prevents the roti from drying out. This step is especially useful in winter when the air is cooler and drier.

These small but effective tips can help you enjoy soft, warm, and tasty rotis throughout the winter season.
