Andhra King Taluka Story: Is Ram Pothineni’s Film Inspired by Short Film?

Andhra King Taluka Story: Andhra King Taluka, starring Ram Pothineni and Bhagyashree Borse, has created its own share of buzz due to all the chemistry shared on-screen by the lead pair, musical contribution by Ram himself, and the constant gossip about their off-screen bond. But now, a new debate has taken the social media wake: Is it inspired by Tarun Bhascker’s well-acclaimed short film Sainma? Let us take an authentic and detailed view on the comparison.

The Legacy of ‘Sainma’

Released about eleven years ago, Sainma is one of the biggest talking points in the Telugu short film circuit. Directed by Tarun Bhascker and starring Rahul Ramakrishna in the lead, the short went on to earn an overwhelming appraisal from the industry for its organic storytelling and young spirit.

In Sainma, Rahul plays a character named Ramu, who is head-over-heels in love with Ramula. However, Ramu’s disqualification as a suitor is posed by his love’s wicked brother. And lo and behold, a sort of inception follows: if Ramu can fill the seats of a local movie house to see a film starring his favorite hero, he can marry Ramula. If not, he must forever forget her. The emotional, fun-filled journey ends on a happy note when Ramu succeeds and wins back his love.

Alignment with the Plot of Andhra King Taluka

The early buzz has put Andhra King Taluka on a partially parallel structure of Sainma. Ram plays Sagar, a die-hard fan of some superstar-his movies seem to create his world. But Ramu’s love story has her own hitches: for the main theater owner in town-her father has rejected Ramu due to the boy being movie-crazy.

Sagar is determined to prove himself worth by building up his own cinema hall and screening only his idol’s films. Slowly but surely his theater became a hit and eventually drew even the hero he idolizes to meet him in person-an emotional journey at the center of the film with the director reported to have woven in new twists to heighten the drama.

Will It Work with a Short-Film-Like Story?

Though the structure might have some resemblance to Sainma, Andhra King Taluka seems to broaden the idea with new conflicts and a commercial storyline. Set to release on the 28th of this month, audiences are waiting on bated breath to see if it can work its magic of the sentimental short or gain its independent identity.
