Naga Chaitanya Exposes High PR Costs: Naga Chaitanya recently spoke on a timely subject in the film industry, escalating PR costs. In the conversation, he shared frankly about why PR has assumed so important a role in an actor’s career and how the unavailability of PR can even affect the performing capabilities of a highly rated film.
Today, according to Chaitanya, PR is considered more like a regular investment than a one-time promotional activity. This is simply because these days case of every actor, including him, spending about ₹2-3 lakhs of his PR-related expenses per month just to keep themselves in the view of the audience, in terms of engagement with the media, and so on.
He particularly pointed out that established stars, considering their larger reach and higher expectations, would be spending even more. He refers to PR not as just glamour but really about standing out and being relevant in this cutthroat industry.
“There Needs To Be Good PR Even For A Good Film Like Thandel”
Chaitanya states that it is no longer about solely telling a good story and therefore assuring the good fate of a film.
Bringing up his film Thandel once again, Chaitanya states that a good film can still do badly without backing by good PR. Just steady promotion by way of interviews, digital campaigns, and buzz on social media can trigger audience interest and take them to theatres and OTT platforms respectively.
While open in his support of positive PR, Chaitanya weighs in hard against the concept of negative PR, whereby one tries to ruin a film or an actor by creating false stories or targeted trolling.
Someone somewhere wants to develop negative PR to gain attention, but I wouldn’t want to pick up this kind of attitude to encourage or stand with it. Positive PR helps the movie, but negative PR is something that I’m not a proponent of.”
