As per the reports, the controversy traces back to 2020 when the AD narrated a female-oriented story to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He claimed to have handed out a detailed synopsis and character sketches for the story. Samantha was said to have shown appreciation towards the concept but wanted some time before signing any deal. He was then horrified years later to find what he thought was the essence of his narrative allegedly converted for use in Telusu Kada, reworked into a male-driven storyline lending it angles he calls “unnecessary and bizarre”.

A Writer’s Lost Opportunity

The young director claims to have spent three or more years working the script into a full-fledged screenplay to pitch it to other actors in days to come; but, with the core plot and major beats of the story now out in public view for all to see in the released film, he believes that the story cannot be viably marketed or repurposed anymore. The young director is reported to have expressed concern over seeing his work become what he considers an unacceptable and extremely compromised version of his concept.

Industry Caution and Legal Limitations

The incident has sparked discussions about the precariousness of creator rights for pitches that are left unprotected. Script registration and entertainment law firms, he says, offer few avenues of recourse in truth, with going to court taking time and a heavy financial toll.
