Dharmendra’s Death: The Indian film industry is horrified; one of the greats, Dharmendra, an actor who embodies larger-than-life charm and warmth as far as generations are concerned, has passed. Among the sea of tributes, Karan Johar, a director possibly among the most sympathetic and tardy, mourned for a guy he called “the very definition of a HERO in mainstream cinema.”
In a personal letter, Johar singled out Dharmendra as a superstar with unsurpassed aura and said that his death would signal “the end of an era.” For Johar, Dharmendra was an icon, polite and kind, frequently nominated for his achievements in cinema whose cinematographic remnants will endure forever in Indian film history.
Saluting Dharmendra, Karan Johar began to talk not just about his great work but also about the warmth and empathy he showed to everybody around. “He just had great love and positivity for all,” Johar said, adding that the veteran actor’s blessings, embraces, and gentle presence had touched many artists and crew members in the field.
Johar pointed out that Dharmendra’s human side was as well-known as his stardom. Reflecting the common sorrow of artists and fans who had admired the performer for years, he remarked, “Today, there is a gaping hole in our business…a gap that can never be filled.”
The director says he also remembered the honor of cooperating with Dharmendra and cherish that memory. With the song “Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar,” which perfectly conveys the anguish of separation, the homage ended with a genuine memory.
As Johar observed, there will always be the one and only Dharamji.
He said that today the clouds are lucky.
